Tristan Desmet Joins Alta Marketing Team

I’m excited to announce that starting June 9th, Tristan Desmet will join the marketing team in Balzac, playing the position of Marketing Specialist. She will be responsible for producing marketing publications like AltaInsight and AltaPreg InTouch, as well as helping organize events and initiatives for Alta’s Premier and Elite marketing programs.

Tristan comes to Alta with marketing experience gained while working for a communications and wireless networks company that focuses on rural services. She also gained experience working with farm clients while serving as an agronomist assistant for United Farmers of Alberta during summers of 2004 and 2005.

While she is new to the dairy industry, Tristan continues to work on her family’s cow/calf operation in Strathmore, Alberta. She also works and volunteers at the Calgary Stockyards on a regular basis.

At Alta, we want to draft the athletes that are passionate about making a contribution to the company and to growing personally. We got that athlete with Tristan. She was captain of the Women’s Ice Hockey team (the Black Bears) at the University of Maine, which she attended on a full ride scholarship. As well, Tristan played with the Oval X-Treme of the Western Women’s Hockey League and played in Canada’s Women’s Olympic Team program.

In 2005, Tristan graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in communications. She will begin her training with Alta by attending the DSM/ADR Level I program on Products & Programs the week of June 9th, then meeting with progressive dairy clients during farm visits throughout the week of June 16th.
