Kievest making a Difference! One of the most eye-catching heifers at the Alta Nucleus at Koepon, Garnwerd is Alta Ebeltje 1, a VG86-daughter of KIEVEST WELPER. Alta Ebeltje 1 is a tall, stylish heifer with a fantastic udder, great feet & legs and a tremendous will to milk. After 236 days this beautiful heifer is still milking over 40 kgs per day and is projected to make 26,994 lbs (12.242 kg) milk with 3.7 % fat and 3.5 % protein. This gives her a 36% rating over herd average and makes her the highest rated cow at the Koepon farm with 270 cows! In the meantime she has already been flushed 2 times for future sons.
The family behind Alta Ebeltje 1 is very productive as well; her dam, the tall and framey Ebeltje 155 VG87 (s. Celsius) produced in 3 lactations over 125,000 lbs (57.000 kg) milk (94 lbs, 42.7 kg/day) and she peaked as a 2-yr-old at over 130 lbs (60 kgs) per day. Next dam is Ebeltje 124 EX90 (by Sunny Boy) with a lifetime production of 199,943 lbs (90.677 kg) milk with 4.1 % fat and 3.3 % protein, followed by a VG88 Hazel-Bush Rockman Dictator with 268,079 lbs (121.578 kg) milk with 4.0 % fat and 3.2 % protein. Now well into his second crop period, Kievest continues to be a popular bull in the Netherlands, what with his Dutch proof now sporting a reliable prediction on nearly 1600 daughters. These daughters confirm his high production first crop proof with solid type. What’s more, Kievest has established himself as a longevity specialist with a rating of 105. In the US, 161 production daughters indicate a similar picture: 105 lbs CFP combined with +1.1 PL and a positive DPR rating. Kievest was the very first bull Alta tested in its European sampling initiative who immediately demonstrated that Alta indeed would be able to offer a strong Dutch alternative. Since the arrival of Kievest, Alta has graduated other notable Dutch bulls like Dynasty, Lucky Mike, Bingo, Kermit and Breakout – all outcross component specialists that provide a measure of diversity to Alta’s strong North American offering.
