Timlynn Adam Passes Away It is with regret that we announce that Alta sire Timlynn ADAM passed away on Sunday Dec. 19, 2004 at the age of 7 ½ years. Adam’s physical challenges were readily apparent from the time he received his first proof, challenges which required treatment on a continuous basis. In mid-December; Adam experienced a paralysis which prevented him from rising thereafter. Adam was truly a “blue collar worker” right up to the end as shown by his continuous 3 years of production. He had been on a maximum production schedule beginning November 2001. And while Adam may not have been a prolific semen producer, he was always willing and an aggressive worker. Despite his physical limitations, Adam produced 221,498 units of semen in his abbreviated career. From the time he arrived on the scene as a proven sire in 2002, it was readily apparent that Adam was a special bull. Backed by a strong maternal line, and a popular sire, over the ensuing proof rounds Adam would become recognized as the best Rudolph son proven in the US. Early reports on second crop daughters beginning to calve in the US and Canada are very favorable, “All along I have believed that Adam is Rudolph’s best son”, states Alta Regional Sire Analyst Jay Jauquet. “The Adams are average in size with more rib and certainly better feet than Rudolph typically sires. I fully expect his daughters will be highly sought after as bull mothers”, predicts Jauquet. Indeed, balanced Type and Production proof information were key to launching Adam’s career, however, more recently Adam established himself to be a leader for Health and Management traits as well. “Adam is a cutting-edge kind of bull, perhaps even a bit ahead of his time” suggests Indianhead Sales Team Leader, Jim Powers who is credited with writing the contract to acquire Adam. “He’s strong in all the modern traits and can be predicted to leave a lasting impact on the breed”. Alta and competitors alike have used Adam as a mating sire and so indeed although gone too soon, his genetics will live on. Suggested alternative sires that deliver a similar mix of solid production and type with modern health and management attributes include: Posted Jan 5th |
