The Dam of Desire, Markwell MG Dream VG87 (2yr) is described by Pete Blodgett as an extremely fancy uddered cow, especially fore udder and teat size and placement. She is also very stylish and smooth yet quite dairy. As a 2yr old she produced 29,520lbs with a 4.0% fat 3.3% protein. Her Dam is Markwell Luke Rapture EX-92 3E, As a 5 year old she produced 40,000 lbs of milk with 4.1% fat and 3.1% protein. She too has made her presence felt internationally as well being a Gold Medal dam, Dam of Merit in the US and a 2* brood cow in Canada. Then of course rounding this great pedigree is MARKWELL BSTAR E RAVEN-ET EX-95-3E-USA, back to Mark Elite EX92-4E (3*), and Mars (Tony) Emily EX94-4E. |
Fore udders, and Dairy Strength is what this bull transmits dominantly! Fore udders welded into their deep open rear ribbing. Udders are shallow and they exhibit strong ligaments but he does need to be protected in his rear udder height. Texture is moderate showing lots of veination. Desire daughters show great set to the leg with a strong foot. They also track extremely well. He sires level cows with hard tops and low wide pins every time. Use DESIRE on those cows that need some stature, frame and style.
Not only is Desire going to be a good mating for Aerostar blood - he is an outcross - this combination will add width of chest and fore udders that Aerostar bloodlines often need. Other ideal matings for DESIRE include Lee, Marty, Aaron, Boss, Astronomical and Leduc daughters. Also he would be a great mating for daughters of Throne, Dante, Durham and his sons.
According to Holstein Canada’s April/May Info Holstein Publication, Markwell Desire Tops the List on most improvement over identified and classified Dams with 75% of the daughters scoring higher than the Dams. In fact they average 2.5 points higher than the dams! What’s even more interesting about this list is, with the exception of one bull, that ALL OTHER BULLS WERE CORRECTIVELY MATED 2ND CROP SIRES. This adds to the credibility of this newly proven sire. Going up against an elite list of bulls Desire not only holds his own – he leads the pack. Definitely a bull worth putting in the tank!
