Best Expo Ever for Alta

It started as a premier cattle show, but today’s World Dairy Expo ranks among the top 100 trades shows in the US of any kind. Attracting a world-wide dairy audience, but particularly from the US mid-West, this show provides an opportunity to talk to clients about programs and services as well as genetics. It’s an opportunity to admire the world’s best show cows yet at the same time it’s an opportunity to learn about the latest industry trends and innovations, and these days it is the later which takes precedence for Alta.

Alta’s Expo 2005 was a success on many fronts. A move for Alta’s booth location from the Coliseum to the Exhibition Hall, characterized as a bit of a “gamble”, really paid off. Additional space in the new venue made it more welcoming inviting longer discussions with clients. And from the opening minutes on the first day, it was clear the interactive nature of the booth was a big hit with patrons. In fact it would not be a stretch to say Alta’s booth was among the busiest throughout the 5 day affair.

The central theme of Alta’s Expo booth was “Don’t gamble with your A.I. Supplier – Trust Alta”. The AltaAdvantage program was featured along with AltaPreg and Alta’s CCT Calf Care products. And while the message advised against gambling on genetics, repro and calf care; in the booth, blackjack tables and a “wheel of fortune” helped deliver the message that gambling is filled with risk.

Best Booth Award

Alta’s new space is considerably larger than before, placing it in competition among large booths at the show. Most gratifyingly, Alta’s Expo design and concept delivered the award for “best booth” of the show, a most pleasant surprise for Alta’s team. Indeed patrons coming onto the stand did have fun and many were able to acquire either an AltaAdvantage Cap or AltaAdvantage Coffee Mug. Even our foreign guests were able to participate fully.

The Cattle Show
Record high temperatures and dripping humidity early in the week made getting animals to the ring looking their best, a challenge. To that end the starkly contrasting cooler temperatures later in the week were appreciated by the cows perhaps more than the show patrons.

In the show ring Alta sires fared well with Piedmont Nadine Furor capturing the Premier Sire award while perennial show campaigner Lystel Leduc delivered a strong runner-up performance in a show dominated by Durham. In the Brown Swiss show Turmoil, the young son of 4-time WDE champion Snickerdoodle, delivered his first class winner in what is likely just the start to a promising career.

The World Dairy Expo 2005 show can only be characterized as an unqualified success for Alta. Tremendous crowds, a dynamic concept that made their visit to Alta’s stand memorable and exceptional shows that prominently featured several Alta sires. Thanks to all who dropped by to visit with us and congratulations to all exhibitors who had success with Alta sired animals.
