With the November proof release AltaLEMMER is now the only Dutch bull with a type score of 114 or in other words +3.5 standard deviations above average. It is clearly evident that Alta emphasized type to a high degree in its selection work in Europe. The breed leaders for type in the Netherlands are AltaLEMMER and AltaLUCKY MIKE. In its short history of testing bulls in Europe Alta has already developed 23 bulls that have a type score of 108 or higher, or in other words, over 2 standard deviations above average. Included among these are AltaBREAKOUT, AltaDARWIN, AltaACCOORD, AltaARCHI and AltaAMOK.

Good type scores are nice, but long lasting cows are even better.
AltaLUCKY MIKE, AltaDYNASTY and AltaBREAKOUT were already recognized as good durability bulls before the updated proofs, but now bulls like AltaDARWIN, AltaLEMMER, AltaARCHI, and the highest Feet & Leg bull, AltaACCOORD, are also enjoying improved scores. Every point improvement in durability means 11 extra productive days. The above mentioned bulls range in proofs from 103 – 109 for the Dutch durability index or on average 33 to 99 extra production days on their daughters.

AltaDARWIN: all-rounder, 106 Durability, healthy cows

AltaBINGO has 500 new freshened daughters in his proof which help to improve his milk score, udder ratings and overall type. He is a great farmer satisfaction bull with the highest temperament score in the breed. This Lucky Leo son will be a high demand bull for years to come as a result. Another 2nd crop bull, AltaKIEVEST, now has 2nd crop proofs in Germany and the UK as well. He ranks very high in these countries compared to his original Interbull proof. This fits perfectly with Alta’s aim to sell bulls that create value for farmers when their daughters start milking.
