AltaAARON at home in Paris

Daughters of Alta’s Second Crop Success bull AltaAARON (Dixie Lee Aaron) were again very successful at the French show in Paris during the SIA (Salon International 2006 d’Agriculture). To win both classes in the Third Lactation cows, AltaAARON showed again his ability to breed excellent production cows that exhibit lots of quality. Besides the 4 daughters of AltaAARON that took part in the show, 2 daughters of AltaWADE (4th lactation) and 3 daughters of the AltaWADE son AltaMERCHANT (1st lactation) also left a very good impression. It confirms the quality of Alta bulls in the highly competitive Type-market in France. In fact, all but one of the Alta daughters captured top 6 placings at the cattle show at the Salon.

Back to AltaAARON... Tops in the show ring, at the centre of the cattle pavilion, in the biggest Agricultural show in France, daughters of AltaAARON made a big statement. First it was ‘Sultane HGH’. Reserve Champion last year, she was again successful by winning her Class. Judge of the day Jean Francois Saluden admired her quality udder and excellent Feet&Legs, traits AltaAARON is known for all around the world. In the next Class it was ‘Reverdiere’ that placed at the top of her class, because of her youthfulness and her dairy quality. It was Reverdiere (pictured here), owned by Pascal Caron who took over the Reserve Champion (Senior) position that her paternal Sister won last year. Two other Aaron daughters ended 4th and 5th in these very competitive classes. |

As start of the day in the first lactation classes, three fresh, youthful daughters of AltaMERCHANT (Alta-I Merchant) entered the ring to make a strong impression among the top of the French show animals. They showed the ability of AltaMERCHANT to breed the show type animals with real dairy frames and excellent udder shape. No wonder AltaMERCHANT is still one of the most popular import bulls in France. These first lactation daughters are especially promising considering the development pattern that his sire AltaWADE is known to deliver. In fact, the two AltaWADE daughters present, in 4th lactation now, impressed with dairy strength, udder quality and youthfulness. Both were placed near the top of their respective classes in 4th and 6th positions. In addition, the impressive ‘Ottawa’ received the award for the second best production cow on the show with a third lactation of 12,770 kg milk with 3.91% Fat and 3.56% Protein.
Besides these daughters of Alta bulls, daughters of AltaASTRE (Duregal Astre Starbuck), AltaDANTE (Regancrest Elton Dante) and AltaFORMATION (Shen-Val NV LM Formation) fielded daughters featured among these best 120 cows showcased in France. With greater than 10 % of the cows present sired by Alta bulls, the success of the program in France is remarkable.
Many farmers that visited the exhibition in Paris took the opportunity to visit Alta Genetics distributor BOVEC at their stand, located amongst the cows. Many of them were informed about the latest developments of the Alta Genetics dairy program and the bulls Alta makes available to French breeders, with the expectation that they will deliver the next generation of show winning animals.
