Alta Hosts Progressive Dairymen on Alta Advantage® Showcase Calgary, Alberta, Canada (September 26, 2006) – Alta Genetics will host progressive dairymen from around the world during the Alta Advantage® Showcase from October 2nd to 9th, 2006. The Showcase program, which coincides with World Dairy Expo, starts with dairy tours in Michigan and concludes in Wisconsin. Alta is welcoming over 150 dairy producers and allied industry representatives from 22 countries who will see the latest in dairy technology, learn progressive dairy management strategies, and witness milking daughters tested in the Alta Advantage® program first hand. “The center piece of the program is an inside tour of our leading progeny-testing program called Alta Advantage®,” says Dr. Nate Zwald, who manages the program for Alta. “The Advantage® program was created to develop and test genetics that deliver efficient and profitable milk cows that perform in large herd environments.” In addition, the Alta Advantage® program requires that all daughters be DNA-tested before their performance can be included in a marketing sire’s proof evaluation. This standard eliminates the 25% mis-identification rate industry-wide among milking daughters included in a typical U.S. proven sire’s proof evaluation. “My level of confidence in the results of the Advantage program has greatly increased my confidence in genetics available to me,” states Dan Monson, co-owner of Spring Grove Dairy which is an Advantage partner herd based in Wisconsin. “At times I have had up to four or five daughters of a specific young sire in the herd, and I can say that those daughters truly represented what the bull data show.” During the Showcase program, international dairy producers will meet with owners and managers of 11 Alta Advantage® partner herds in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Wisconsin. These dairies combined are managing 18,500 cows. Overall, the Advantage program includes partnerships with 175 dairies averaging 850 cows that are located in major dairy regions across the United States. Alta assigns an Alta Advantage® Consultant to each partner dairy with a role to build the relationship with dairy owners and managers, plus provide valuable services like herd benchmarking, animal identification verification, and genetic and reproductive advice. “We’ve always respected the quality of service that Alta Genetics brings to our operation,” says Chris Weaver, co-owner of Bridgewater Dairy in Ohio. “When we joined the Advantage program, we knew this would be a good business decision for us as well.” Alta Genetics is a genetic improvement and reproductive management company focused on the mission to “create value…build trust…deliver results.” The company specializes in the development of genetically superior bulls through state-of-the-art young sire sampling programs, while also offering a complete line of reproductive service solutions. Alta is the largest privately held AI company in the world, operating sampling programs in the United States, Canada, and Europe and actively marketing products in 84 countries. Company headquarters are located in Balzac, Alberta, Canada. Contacts: Mr. Kevin Muxlow Posted Sep 26th |
