Alta to Host 2007 Dairy Day at Koepon Farm in the Netherlands
Alta announced today that it will host the 5th Alta Dairy Day on October 26th at the Koepon dairy farm, located in Garnwerd, The Netherlands. The 2007 Dairy Day resumes an exciting program for progressive dairy producers from around the world.
The theme for the 2007 Dairy Day is “Progressive Dairy Management,” and the event will focus on large herd management and genetics that are proven to perform in progressive dairy environments.
The Koepon Farm is a progressive herd milking 250 cows. The dairy is home to many milking daughters of Alta’s proven sires. The Koepon dairy recently started working with a methane digester, so visitors will be able to observe this technology in operation.
With Blue Tongue still an issue throughout much of Europe, the decision to assemble daughter groups from various key Alta sires has been abandoned. Farmers attending the event will however, be invited to tour the dairy operation and see daughters from a variety of Alta sires from past (AltaLUCKY MIKE, AltaBREAKOUT, AltaDYNASTY, AltaACCOORD) and present (AltaADAM & AltaBINGO), as well as representatives from some of the world’s top female lines who are part of the AltaGen nucleus herd.
The Alta Dairy Day program will also include lectures and presentations from thought leaders in the dairy business. As well, a trade show hosting about 25 exhibitors serving progressive dairy farmers of the future will be included in the program.
The Alta Dairy Day is an event where every progressive dairy producer can gain knowledge and new information concerning breeding, reproduction, and dairy management. The event was last held in 2005, when over 3,600 dairy producers participated.
