Does a good ov-synch program cure all cystic ovary problems, or simply put a mask on the problem?

There are variety of contributors to the prevelence of COD including stress, poor BCS, high milk production and genetics. In this condition, cows fail to have a functional corpus luteum (CL) with adequate progesterone production. The Ovsynch protocol uses two doses of GnRH which will ovulate follicles >10 mm in diameter. These ovulated follicles yield functional CLs with adequate progesterone production to allow a return to normal cycling. Many of these cows will conceive to the Ovsynch service and others will return to normal cyclicity to become pregnant to a subsequent service.
