Fifty years for Alta California Alta California Celebrates Fifty Years of A.I. Service to the Dairy Industry Hilmar, CA – August 5, 2004 – The year was 1954 and Albert De Salles decided to tap into a rapidly growing dairy industry in his small town of Hilmar, California. In a community where cows outnumbered people, De Salles was a pioneer in his own right, establishing the area’s first artificial insemination service for cattle known as Hilmar Sire Service, Incorporated, which was later renamed Alta California in 2001. Owned and operated by Gerald Martin, son-in-law of the late Albert De Salles, Alta California has experienced dramatic growth over the course of fifty years. Expanding from one A.I. technician upon its inception in 1954 to over 30 employees today, Alta California continues to excel as one of the largest breeding services in California. When asked about the reason for the company’s success, Martin confidently states, “Our goals have always been to provide exceptional service and treat each dairy’s needs individually. Our A.I. technicians are highly trained with a solid dairy background ensuring improved reproduction and customer satisfaction.”
Alta California currently provides dairy reproductive management services to dairymen throughout California. Alta California’s full time staff of reproductive specialists and consultants offers dairy management software training, technician services, reproduction management, semen sales and A.I. classes to its customers. With an outstanding team of employees, coupled with its long-time commitment to customer satisfaction, Alta California is sure to remain a recognized leader and valued partner in the dairy industry.
